The weather is changing - one day spring, the next back to winter. This can wreak havoc on your immune system and when your immune system is down, its perfect conditions for catching the latest bug going around. Before you reach for Nyquil, try these natural cold remedies.

Our amazing, God-given immune system is the BEST defense against any bug. What's the best way to make sure your immune system is strong in times of stress? Establish a habit-of-health now, not after you get sick. Prevention is the best defense and natural cold remedies are the best method. 

Follow these tips to cancel your weather-change cold:


10.   Leave the house prepared for a variety of weather conditions: rain, wind, cold, sun! Don't get caught off-guard without proper protection from the elements. Your body is depending on you!

  Short and simple: wash your hands - thoroughly and often. Even then, try to keep your hands away from your face - especially your ears as there's some evidence that cold and flu viruses enter through then breed in the ear canal.

  Regular aerobic exercise speeds up the heart to pump larger quantities of blood; makes you breathe faster to help transfer oxygen from your lungs to your blood; and makes you sweat once your body heats up. These exercises help increase the body's natural virus-killing cells.

  Make a habit of drinking plenty of water every day! Water flushes your system, washing out the poisons as it rehydrates you. How can you tell if you're getting enough liquid? If the color of your urine runs close to clear, you're getting enough. If it's deep yellow or has a strong odor, drink more (water, that is).

  Rest! Your body does more than dream when you sleep. You also repair and regenerate, not just rejuvenate! When your're sick, rest is even more important because your body needs all the energy it can conserve to go towards fighting disease and healing itself.

   Remember the old addage "feed a cold"? This is true if you're feeding your body plenty of protein in times of a cold. Why? because protein contains amino acids which are the building blocks your body uses to repair itself.

   Eat Foods Containing Phytochemicals. "Phyto" means plants, and the natural chemicals in plants give the vitamins in food a supercharged boost. So eat plenty of organic (grown in vitamin rich soil!) dark green, red, and yellow vegetables and fruits. Preferably still alive, which means FRESH!!!

   We all need 90 nutrients in our diet everyday.
