School's out for summer (or soon will be) and this tip - hyperactivity in children - is dedicated to parents everywhere who can use help calming down their little bundles of energy, also known as their off-spring.

I first want to recommend that you take a look at your child's diet. We often are pretty aware of how our own diet effects us, but we seldom think about the effect the food our kids eat have on their mood, their attentiveness and their learning capacity.

For example, hyperactivity in children may indicate a trace mineral deficiency. Did you know that 48 of 49 inmates on death row were tested and found to be deficient in the same trace minerals?  Tests have shown that using a good mineral supplement can permanently replace the need for Prozac and Ritalin.

One of the best products on the market is GBG's 10-in-One. I like it especially for kids because it's liquid (it can easily be added to your child's favorite drink), it tastes MUCH better than most similar products I've tried, it provides better nutrition than the other children vitamin products we've researched, and it won't break the bank.

So, once you've done the nutrition check - gotten them off the gummy whatever their currently taking for vitamins and gotten them on a good multi product, gotten them off of fast food, processed food, sugary or high salt snacks, white bread, white rice, white sugar, processed and fatty meats, fried foods, undiluted fruit juices, most candy -- OK, OK!  I hear your cries of "ENOUGH already. What are we supposed to feed them?!"  Just take it one step at a time, one day at a time, maybe work on removing or reducing just one item on the above list at a time.  Any effort will make a difference.

So rephrasing, once you've started working on better nutrition, essential oils can also help quite a bit in calming hyperactivity. Single essential oils great for this are lavender and roman chamomile. Blending several oils known to work well is highly effective. Contact us for some great recipes.

Once you have your oils of choice, just massage all over the bottom of the feet at bedtime and/or diffuse using a nebulizing diffuser, by putting a few drops in an oil burner with water (don't forget to blow the tea light out before you retire for the evening), or in a cool mist humidifier. You can also apply a few drops right to the pillow to help promote a full night's sleep.

This tip is not just for dealing with hyperactivity in children!  Adults need calming just as much if not more since we are more prone to take the cares of the world with us into the bedroom. For adults, other single oils to consider in addition to those mentioned above are cypress, cedarwood, sandalwood and valerian root oil (God's natural tranquilizer).  Again, contact us for some great recipes.
